If you’re a Hydraulics Engineer who’s tired of being micromanaged, overloaded, or boxed into rigid ways of working, this will feel refreshingly different.
This is a privately owned, mid-sized building services consultancy that’s grown steadily over the last decade to 80+ engineers across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, and Brisbane is the next big growth story.
The local team is being led by two of the most up-and-coming directors in the Brisbane market. Both are technically strong, commercially sharp, and heavily involved in projects day to day. They’ve built strong client trust and, as a result, the team has a serious volume of secured work across hospitality, high-rise residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
What that means for you is stability, momentum, and opportunity, not a “wait and see” office, but a team that’s actively growing because demand is already there.
To support that growth, the business invests heavily in a dedicated drafting and BIM team, freeing you up to focus on what actually adds value: engineering judgement, problem-solving, and meaningful client interaction, rather than spending your time buried in documentation.
Just as importantly, the leadership style is refreshingly human. The directors lead with trust, not process. They believe engineers do their best work when they’re supported, not scrutinised, that’s why flexible working is built into how the team operates, not treated as a special arrangement.
You’ll take ownership of projects from concept through delivery — with the autonomy to run them properly.
Lead hydraulic services design and delivery across mixed-use, hospitality, commercial and residential projects
Work directly with clients as a trusted technical advisor, not hidden behind layers of management
Mentor intermediate engineers and help lift the technical standard of the team
Stay focused on engineering judgement and stakeholder engagement, with drafting support handled offshore
In short: you’re trusted to do what you’re good at, without unnecessary interference.
You’ll enjoy this role if you:
Have solid experience across Hydraulic and Plumbing systems
Come from a consultancy or strong contractor background, with design and shop-drawing knowledge
Are confident applying Australian Hydraulics standards
Value autonomy and ownership over rigid HR structures
Ideally hold or are working toward RPEQ or QBCC/QVCC accreditation
This suits someone at intermediate–senior level who wants more influence, better balance, and a clear path forward.
Flexibility first – work from home whenever you need, with trust to deliver your way
Supportive leadership – directors who understand balance (and actually live it)
Clear progression – realistic pathway toward Associate level within 1–3 years
Strong salary – circa $130k–$160k + super, negotiable for the right person
Projects you’ll be proud of – high-rise towers, hotels, major residential and mixed-use developments
If you’re ready to grow your career without sacrificing flexibility or sanity, let’s talk.
